Principal's Message


A message from our school principal, Mr. Trent Derrick;



     Welcome to Lakeland High School, Home of the Hawks, one of the top high school's in the state of Idaho.  Our commitment is to serve you, as you entrust us with the educational responsibility to empower your student to reach their potential.  Empowerment occurs as each student works diligently in the classroom where we promote instruction that focuses on student learning and engagement.  Our students consistently score well above the state and national averages on college entrance exams, as well as state aptitude tests.  Lakeland High School’s graduation rate ranks highest in North Idaho.  We also recognize students follow different pathways to success.  Our experienced staff helps each student acquire the skill sets necessary to be able to continue their education at a college or university, vocational training program, or one of our military branches.  Our students can earn up to 44 college credits on-site through the Lakeland College Prep Academy, embedded within our high school curriculum.  Lakeland High School is the launchpad to your student's future success.


     Furthermore, LHS is a place where students can explore their passions outside the classroom.  We believe every student should be on a team.  Participation in extracurricular activities improve attendance, academic performance, and career readiness.  Being involved is integral to our school culture.  Over eighty-five percent of our students participate in some form of school sponsored extracurricular activity.  We offer over twenty varsity sports at the Idaho 4A classification level.  Lakeland also prides itself in the quality of its music, drama, and visual arts programs.  Numerous other clubs tailored to student interests such as Robotics Club, Business Professionals of America, Shop Club, Forestry Club, FCCLA and many more are also provided.  If you would like to learn more about Lakeland, please feel free to contact the school at 687-0181.  We welcome you to come by and visit at any time.   Go Hawks!
